Write Your Congressman AK

We arrived in Prague on a Saturday night dancing to ICH BIN IKKA. After a nice dinner with the band and Burki, a few of us hit the city to appease our curiosity of what Prague had to offer. To sum up the events that were remembered from that night: Absinthe, outdated music, being rejected by Lesbians, more alcohol, and a vague recollection of how we got back to our hotel. Seriously, how did we get back? The next day K’noup, Hiram, Alex, and Orbel hit the streets during the day to take in the sights. Alex got yelled at by a shop owner and was promptly kicked out for eating a croissant in his store. The croissant was delicious, screw that guy. The guys visited a wax museum and posed with some famous figures. Then it was back to the hotel to prep for the show – a...

F*ck Everybody In One Equation

F*ck Everybody In One Equation

Viza arrived in Oslo. The temperature frigid and the moustaches pronounced. Orbel got tips from the sound engineer on how to maintain his signature facial hair, meanwhile K’noup felt the first effects of jet lag. He was mentioning how the floor underneath him was swirling and he ran away like a little birdie during soundcheck. We met this amazing opening band Salongorkesteret which covered Nirvana, Motorhead, Ed Cobb (Soft Cell) and other awesome bands – all with a mandolin, upright, harmonica and acoustic guitars – SOLID.   Oslo was a hit with the crowd – we played a long set and rocked the place.  Then we headed to our first hostel which had no sheets or towels – I guess you learn how to travel in Europe pretty fast because we decided to just...

Strangest Show on Earth?

Strangest Show on Earth?

So we’re in our tour van heading to Frankfurt on the Autobahn going about 520 miles per hour. The guys are in high spirits, probably because we don’t have hangovers (It’s a German miracle!). I finally have a chance now to update y’all on the first few days of our tour. But, before I continue let’s take a step back and see how we’ve arrived at our present situation. We landed in Germany after a 14 hour flight and met the newest addition to our entourage: A tall, orange bearded German dude, doubling as our tour manager and driver – Burkhardt (Burki for short). Luckily he turned out to be an absolutely awesome guy, who gets our humor and knows how to get shit done. With our old driver, Monster Boner, and now Burki, the band has scored a clean two for...

Viza Backside Interview

Viza Backside Interview

So Antranig and Chris stopped by Backside in LA to do a radio interview with the man JoJo and “DJ Mike” resident hot stylers at the Backside House Mafia.  Their interview will air on the radio very soon but here’s a super duper special secret upload of the hour-long interview that they just did tonight. The guys talk about the the band’s history, Viza’s international and US tours, their upcoming “Carnivalia” CD release party on 12/10 at the House of Blues, and a bunch of other random stuff – if you want to hear what city the guys liked best in Europe from their tour you have to check it out…  LISTEN...

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

It has been a wild week to say the least… It all started with a text from K’noup saying “you comin in the limo?” I really had no idea what he was talking about until he told me that Flawless Limo hooked him up with a limousine for his birthday so we could roll to the Viza show in style. I couldn’t say no to his offer because I knew the amazing mayhem that would ensue within the limo. So before we hop into the limo that evening, K’noup hands me a big shopping bag to take with us and I realize it’s packed with two bottles of Patron and a bottle of Rose. This usually isn’t much for a night of partying but considering it was only 10 of us in the limo we were destined to get really, really fucked up. During the short drive to the Viper Room we had...

She’s Pretending to be Smoking

She’s Pretending to be Smoking

So after a night of excessive drinking at none other than the hip & sheik cabaret of TGI Fridays, (yes you read correct, seems like in Malmö TGI Fridays is the equivalent to the Sky Bar on Sunset Blvd. or Studio 54 in NYC in the latter 70′s) half the band decided to wake up early for a 5 star breakfast treat in the lobby.  Upon discovering the delicious delicatessen that was bestowed upon them their appetites opened up like an anus after drinking a liter of laxatives.  Mounds of cake, scrambled eggs, forks, knives, fruits & every jam/jelly east of Byzantium that was mushy and yummy was there!  After the feast was complete K’noup, Orbel & Shant decided to pull an early 7am fast one on Alex.  Orbel called his room from the lobby and...

Malm-ömg!

Malm-ömg!

So the band got in around 3 pm Friday afternoon after a horrible delay in NYC thanks to some beautiful east coast style thunderstorms. There was a really cool long bridge/freeway type road that goes from Copenhagen, Denmark to Malmö, Sweden, then the guys checked into a really cool hotel which is right near the venue. Most of the guys ended up sleeping to rest after the long flight to Copenhagen… but a few of the others immediately (guess who) went on a journey of discovery eating Swedish food and drinking Swedish beers   Amazingly tasty but expensive! So the day went on and the band checked out the stage where they will be playing Saturday night – it’s amazing! The guys are going to rock the festival and it’s going to be awesome. ...
